About this deal

Anyway, I haven't enjoyed a collection of short stories this much in years, and Alan Moore proves himself every bit the genius he's been known to be for the past four decades. One of the things apparent in the book though is Alan Moore's skill with words and a turn of phrase. I would read more of this though, as I feel it has potential (uuugggghhhhh and now I just feel pretentious saying that about Alan Fucking Moore!

From ghosts and otherworldly creatures to theoretical Boltzmann brains fashioning the universe at the big bang, Illuminations is exactly that - a series of bright, startling tales from a contemporary legend that reveal the full power of imagination and magic. Its tale of the House Without Clocks, a fantastical brothel in a sorcerous city, would have been right at home in Telguuth, the decadent fantasy world Moore's old mucker Steve 'No Relation' Moore crafted in homage to Clark Ashton Smith. LOCATION, LOCATION, LOCATION (four stars) During the Revelation/Rapture/Second Coming, the resurrected Jesus meets with his attorney, who has been engaged to handle the paperwork in transferring the universe to its new owner. This led inexorably to the events at the Capitol, when Trump’s hardcore fans (“fanatics” in the truest sense) revolted against the inconvenient truth of Biden’s electoral victory in an effort to “expose troublesome fact as fiction, while establishing pulp picture-story narrative as universal fact”. The Improbably Complex High-Energy State" otra excelente pieza, aunque el inicio puede ser pesado lo que sigue es una gran pieza sobre el abuso de poder.Hypotetická ještěrka byla zajímavá, ale v polovině ten příběh nabral jakousi hořkou pachuť, která mi nebyla po chuti a táhla se až do konce.

In his first-ever short story collection, which spans forty years of work, Alan Moore presents a series of wildly different and equally unforgettable characters who discover - and in some cases even make and unmake - the various uncharted parts of existence. In the first femtosecond of time at the beginning of the universe, a spontaneously generated consciousness emerges, followed by another, then by a whole passel of them. Not Even Legend,” “Location, Location, Location,” “The Improbably Complex High-Energy State,” and “Illumination” - These stand in contrast to Hypothetical Lizard as being undoubtedly Alan Moore creations – at times to their detriment. Thunderman subsequently explores key moments in Porlock’s life, ranging from his early childhood to American Comics’ collapse. They wanted big dramatic threats and enemies, no matter that they strained all credibility, and also wanted some improbable and memorable character to offer them solutions that were simple, and as unbelievable as the imagined menaces they were pledged to combat. The dinner is interrupted by the belated revelation that American’s editor-in-chief, Brandon Chuff, has been dead for the entire conversation, despite his smiling presence at the table (somewhat like the real-world comics industry, Moore implies). Massive” and “American” replace Marvel and DC Comics, respectively, and the story’s titular Thunderman is (of course) our very own Superman. This was an enjoyable collection; I just wish that Moore had been more willing to kill his darlings and had submitted to more rigorous editing. porque aunque soy una persona morbosa y cotilla, su pesadísima forma de narrar, su cansino afán de ajustar cuentas con el género y sus alusiones veladas, seudónimos, y oscuras referencias a escabrosas anécdotas, cansa y aburre ya a las piedras.
